Poster Board Quality FAQs
What kind of inks are used?
We use UV cured inks in full color CMYK (Cyan Magenta Yellow Black). These inks dry quickly and retain their color for many years. NOTE: While CMYK process does cover a wide spectrum of visible colors, there will always be some which cannot be produced (metallics, fluorescents and certain families of beige)
Can you print or match stock colors from Pantone, Benjamin Moore, etc?
While we do not print spot colors or specialty inks, a majority of these colors can be successfully produced in - CMYK.
NOTE: For mission critical color matching we recommend ordering press proofs for the best results.
Are poster boards suitable for outdoor use?
While foamcore is durable and resilient for indoor applications, it will quickly fall apart under the rain given that it is essentially a polystyrene core sandwiched between two sheets of paper.
For outdoor posterboard printing & signs, we recommend Sintra/PVC and Coroplast which are designed to withstand exposure to the elements.
Are there any special care instructions for maintaining the quality of poster boards over time?
Sintra and Coroplast require minimal maintenance and can be cleaned with warm water and soap. Foamcore boards cannot be immersed in water and should be cleaned with a damp cloth.
What if I don't like my poster board print? Is there a return policy?
We stand by the quality of our work and will never charge the client for any errors on our part. This guarantee does not apply to errors relating to submitted artwork, which is the responsibility of the client to provide as "print-ready".
File Preparation FAQs
What file formats do you accept for artwork submissions?
We accept PDF, EPS, AI, TIFF, PSD & PSB files. For optimal results please ensure that they are at least 200dpi (300dpi for extra detail) and that your color mode is set to CMYK.
NOTE: For Indesign and Illutrator files, be sure to include any necessary fonts, or render those fonts to pixels (Rasterize command) or vectors (Create Outlines command) in order to avoid any delays with prepress.
How do I upload artwork?
We highly recommend cloud storage platforms like WeTransfer, Google Drive or Dropbox, especially for submitting high resolution artwork which are simply too big fit in an email.
What does bleed mean in printing? Why and when should we use it?
Bleed refers to the extra area around the actualy trim line. It is useful when you wish to extend an image or color all the way to the edge of the print. Minimum bleed size should be 1/8 of an inch.
What is the "safety zone" in printing?
The safety area refers to the inner 1/4 inch margin that is considered safe to put any text. In printing sometimes there is a subtle shift which may cause critical text beyond this margin to be trimmed away. It is basically wiggle room to ensure that your message appears intact.
Should I include crop marks in my design?
Crop marks are only necessarywhen submitting artwork that has a bleed margin. For all other applications simply size your canvas to your final size and we will handle the rest.
Do you offer design services for customers who need assistance creating their artwork?
Yes, we offer graphic design, layout and typography services. We can develop and adapt existing designs, or come up with a completely original concept based on your requirements.
