Evolution of New York City - Part 4 (1910-1915)

Posted on December 19, 20121911-penn-station-interior

Continuing our journey we find ourselves in a new decade. All of the East River bridges are now complete and the city's connection to outer boroughs attracts even more jobs and businesses to the Big Apple. The skyline continues to evolve, though at a less frenetic pace. The most notable addition in this period is the Woolworth Building, which to this day adds a great deal of gothic character to Manhattan's downtown skyline. The completion of the Municipal Building and several banks also helped solidify the core of the city's financial district, which by this point was exploding with business. These are some great years for the city, a pre-cursor of sorts to the "Roaring Twenties" that would soon enjoy so much infamy throughout the ages.
